You and Your Work 7 Performance Festival

You and Your Work is back! This time we've teamed up with Groundwork South West in order to provide an even bigger event. Get ready for yet another installment bursting with an exciting blend of theatre, performance and live art, delicious world food prepared by Refugee Women of Bristol and eclectic live music.
YaYW7, produced by Jo Bannon and Sylvia Rimat, brings you outstanding contemporary performance, live art and interventions from the most promising local and national emerging artists and companies.
Artist showing at this event are: Ania Bas, Lee Campbell, Fiskulturnik, Taylan Halici, Ewelina Kolaczek, Michelle & Sebastian, Jacky Puzey, Kate Rowles and Rhiannon Chaloner with the Refugee Women of Bristol.
Take part in two new artworks specifically commissioned by YaYW. Shade - Home, a site-specific performance for an audience of ten people by local artist Jacky Puzey and an arts project facilitated by Rhiannon Chaloner with the Refugee Women of Bristol and Kurdish artists Taban Othman and Shula.
With its emphasis on social as well as artistic exchange YaYW7 will also play host to live music and a wide range of world food. To compliment the event, local outdoor social event and skills swap, the Corner Garden will take place at the same time as the festival just along from the Easton Community Centre and inside Fristborn Creatives will be screening some short local community films.
You and Your Work places risk-taking and experimental high quality work by emerging artists within a diverse community context and sets the challenge of awakening curiosity and engaging new audiences to new work.
YaYW7 is funded by the National Lottery throguh Arts Council England, Groundwork South West and Quartet Community Foundation, Grassroots Grant.
YaYW7 is a free non-ticketed event which begins at 5pm on Saturday 17 October 09 at Easton Community Centre, Kilburn Street, Easton, Bristol, BS5 6AW.

Becoming Audile - New Commission!

I'm just beginning work on a new project provisionally titled, Becoming Audile, which has been commissioned as part of Testing Grounds and will be shown on Saturday Oct 31st at South Hill Park.
The work is centred around my fasciantion with foley artists, (the people who add all the sound to movies, TV and Radio) their studios and their invention. I'm currently attempting to court and get to know a reknowned foley artist, (they are very secretive creatures!) and researching new sound effects and trying to make realistic sounds from cabbages, wet towels and bits of pipe! Claim to Fame has been chosen as one of the works to be featured in this years Decibel Festival to be held in Manchester this September.
Decibel Performing Arts Showcase is an Arts Council England initiative which promotes diverse practice in the performing arts sector by showcasing the work of some of England's most creative and talented artists and companies.
Jo is delighted to have been selected and looks forward to sharing her work with the delegates on Thursday 17th September at Greenroom, Manchester.

Claim to Fame @ Forest Fringe, Edinburgh

Get yourself along to the Forest Fringe Cafe during this years Edinburgh Festival and add your Claim to Fame to Jo's ever increasing collection.

Taking place over the 22nd - 23rd August 09, Claim to Fame is a playfully interactive encounter which attempts to build a community of strangers linked solely by their brushes with stardom.
It is about slight yet intimate encounters and attempts to be one itself. Most of all it is an excuse to meet people, so if you have ever passed David Hasselhoff in the street, are distantly related to Helen Mireen, once cut Mick Jagger's hair or anything in between why not come along and take part.

Another successful You and Your Work performance platform took place on Saturday 6th June 09 at Easton Community Centre, Bristol.
A record number of audience turned out to see over ten artists and companies showing the latest and very best in theatre, live art, performance and interventions alongside a vibrant programme of international live music and Carribean food.
